Welcome

As a life-long Ellsworth resident and Village Board President, I’m so proud of our town, community, and the great quality of life we have here!

Ellsworth’s location affords us so many benefits. While we might be divided by a state line, we’re considered part of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. Located in the geographic center of Pierce County at the convergence of four major state highways, 10, 63, 65, and 72, we have ease of access and a swift commute to the Cities and its suburbs. We enjoy a low cost of living and small-town feel, all close to the amenities of the Twin Cities. Within an hour’s drive, we can find world-class medical care, a wide variety of higher education options, and unlimited entertainment and culture.

Ellsworth area schools are a main source of pride here and highly rated. Our teachers are dedicated and receive high praise from both parents and students. When it comes to extra-curricular options, from music and drama to sports, our school district’s youth excel with a long list of state championship wins and titles of which we can all be proud.

Our business community is committed to serving our area’s residents. Unlike many small and rural communities, we’re fortunate to have a grocery store, medical clinic, pharmacy, dental care, chiropractic, veterinary services, legal and financial services, and a local newspaper, in addition to many other service and retail businesses, and restaurants. While we would always like to see--and are working to attract--more, our local businesses are providing for nearly every necessity.

And the beauty! The Mississippi River and Wisconsin Great River Road, voted, “Prettiest Drive in America” by Huffington Post readers, is right in our backyard. Rolling farmland, lush hardwood forests, deep valleys, crystal clear streams, and sandstone bluffs provide an abundance of recreation opportunities and scenic diversity. I hope you’re out there hiking, biking, hunting, fishing, and otherwise taking full advantage of all Ellsworth and our area has to offer!

While life in general might run at a slower pace here, don’t think for a minute that we’re not looking ahead to the future. Our updated Comprehensive Plan has given us a new perspective on what is important to area residents. Our public library, which has been a community hub for decades, is preparing to serve the next generation of local families; a soon-to-be-completed public library expansion will bring a new menu of services to locals. Broadband expansion will soon have Ellsworth and county residents connected and prepared for the future’s technology.

Yes, there’s a lot to be proud of in Ellsworth! If you’re as passionate about our town as I am, you might be looking for ways to serve and support our community’s future prosperity. There are many local civic groups and non-profit organizations working hard to make Ellsworth better for all. Get involved and volunteer your time—a few hours of volunteer time each month can make a big difference. There are also many opportunities to serve within our municipal government including committee appointments and serving on the village board.

Our business community counts on you, too. Please remember to support our Ellsworth businesses who invest in our community. And if you’re interested in establishing a business here, it would be wise to reach out to the Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commerce who are ready and willing to help.

Life is good here in Ellsworth and I hope you’re as proud of our community as I am. Thank you for being a part of it.
