The fiscal year for the Village of Ellsworth is January 1 - December 31.
The budget process begins in September/October and culminates in November when the required public hearing is held and the budget is reviewed and approved by the Village Board. The general budget is a guide that is used by the department heads and Village Board to provide necessary services to village residents.
Property taxes are calculated on taxes levied by various taxing jurisdictions. The taxing jurisdictions for the Village include the Ellsworth School District, Chippewa Valley Technical College, Pierce County, and the Village of Ellsworth. The tax levy that each of these jurisdictions require for operation are included as part of the property tax bill that you receive if you own property in the Village. The total tax levy is determined by mid to late November.
Tax bills are sent by mail no later than December 20 annually. Property taxes are due January 31 (paid to the Village of Ellsworth) or in two installments due January 31 (paid to the Village of Ellsworth) and July 31 (paid to the Pierce County Treasurer).
